Today Anzer is one of the most important place of pilgrimage on the islands. People want to go there and take in its great wonder. An exciting excursion to Anzersky island consists of visiting two sketes: Anzersky Troicky and Golgofo-Raspjatsky sketes. In the 18th century Anzersky Troicky skete became independent from the main Solovetsky Monastery and during the following years this island was in many ways a separate territory. In the middle of the island there is Golgofa-hill, where you can see the wonderful Golgofo-Raspjatsky skete. Visiting Ansersky Island, you can feel the special energy of those picturesque lands, which were always the place of strict hermitage in the past and in during the 20th century the Gulag at Anzer was the place of cruel tortures and torments.
