Located in the Great Barrier Reef, Ribbon Reef no. 3 has a huge selection of marine life - a classic "oasis-in-the-desert" site. There you will see plate coral, boulder coral, gorgonian fans, soft coral and golf ball coral. Nudibranchs can be seen below 10m. Circling pods of minke whales, barracuda, giant trevally, batfish and snapper can also be seen between June and August. Visibility is good with large concentrations of fish schools. Look for five species of anemones, purple and gold anthias, fourlined snapper and yellowtail goatfish. Also, regularly cruising by are barracuda, trevally and whitetip reef sharks.
