This city is situated on the right bank of the Dnipro River. Taras Shevchenko, a great Ukrainian poet, artist, democrat and thinker was buried here in 1923. The Shevchenko National Preserve was built on the hill where he was laid to rest. The sights include various museum expositions, created on the basis of monuments of history, culture and nature, linked with the life and work of Taras Shevchenko.
